The Amazing Race has long been absent from our TV screens, and I'm starting to get impatient.
The Amazing Race is one of my favorite shows on T, and thanks to the writers' strike, the premiere of season 12 was accelerated. I liked it at the time, but it has left us all with a longer absence from
The Amazing Race than we ever had before. The thirteenth edition of the beloved reality series debuts September 28, and Entertainment Weekly recently posted a little preview, thanks to executive producer/creator Bertram Van Munster.

The Amazing race is...amazing, for lack of a better word. :D
Can't wait to see the premiere.
The new season features exotic locations such as Angkor Wat, Cambodia and La Paz, Bolivia. The race occurred over a 23-day span, and involved five continents.
Youngest team: a pair of “super-smart” men in the early twenties.
Oldest team: A married hippie couple from Oregon in their sixties. According to Van Munster: “They're the real thing. They come right out of the '60s. To a lot of people, it looks almost like they're from a different planet.”
Previewing a Bolivian challenge, Van Munster said: “We have a situation in Bolivia where we have the contestants go down a cobblestone hill on very, very primitive bikes, and it's just the most hilarious thing you've ever seen in your life. It's a truly bone-jarring experience.”
All good stuff. I'm especially excited to see the teams head to La Paz, a city that I've actually been to and can confidently say is one of coolest, most unique places I've ever been. I've heard rumblings of more really cool South American locales that the teams might end up visiting, but who knows if they're true (Cusco, Peru is one possibility). When the season premieres in late September, it will have been close to a year between season premieres. This will not happen again – CBS has ordered a fourteenth season for the beginning of 2009.
