The 4400’s
Joel Gretsch will soon be making his comeback to the big screen.
Early last month, it was reported that the 43 year-old actor from St. Cloud, Minessota signed up to be one of the cast members in the adventure sequel
National Treasure: Book of Secrets. The film, which is under the direction of Jon Turtletaub, follows Benjamin Franklin Gates, portrayed by Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage, as he embarks on the search for the eighteen pages that have gone missing from John Wilkes Booth’s personal diary. As shown in the film’s trailer, the missing pages contain information regarding a conspiracy of global proportion.
Aside from Gretsch and Cage, the star-studded cast also includes Diane Kruger (Abigail Chase), Jon Voight (Patrick Henry Gates), Justin Bartha (Riley Poole), Harvey Keitel (FBI Agent Peter Sadusky), Helen Mirren (Emily Appleton Gates), Ed Harris (Jeb Wilkinson), Bruce Greenwood (US President), Alicia Coppola (FBI Agent Dawes) and Manny Oliverez (Secret Service Agent).
Gretsch’s character in the film has yet to be revealed. The The 4400 star, who portrays Tom Baldwin on the show, began his acting career on stage. After training at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, he relocated to Los Angeles and eventually found work in several television productions such as Married…with Children, Melrose Place and Saved by the Bell: The New Class. His more recent television appearances include JAG, Silk Stalkings, CSI: Miami, NCIS, Taken and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. For the big screen, his most notable roles include The Legend of Bagger Vance, Minority Report and The Emperor’s Club.
National Treasure: Book of Secrets, which started filming early this year, is set to come out on December 21st. In the meantime, fans can catch more of Gretsch on The 4400, which will begin its fourth season this coming Sunday, June 17th, on the USA network.
