That's Amore!: Episode 3 Reaction

Here's a valuable piece of life advice I'm about to give you, kids. Most of the time, if something seems like a questionable idea, but you decide to go ahead with it anyway, saying to yourself, “Well, how bad could it be?” the answer is probably: worse than you think.

Case in point: That's Amore! Before the season started, that's exactly what I thought. Domenico Nesci seemed cute enough on A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila. That show was pretty gross in its own way, but the kids on the show seemed somewhat likable anyway, so I found myself saying those exact words: How bad could That's Amore! be?

Three episodes in and it's clear: worse than I thought.

The worst part about it isn't so much the demeaning things the women are doing, or how villain-y the villainess is, or watching yet another reality doofus make out with a bunch of women willing to do demeaning things on television for said reality doofus. It isn't even that it's so unbearably fake.

The worst part is that it all of those and yet so not entertaining.

I mean, all of those things were true about the first season of Rock of Love, but it was at least oddly and compulsively watchable. On the other hand, when I read the comments on the recap for this week's episode that indicated it looks like MTV might try to bury the remaining episodes of That's Amore!, all I felt was a sense of relief that the whole thing might wrap up a little bit quicker than I had anticipated.

I think that VH1 and MTV have possibly gone to the well one too many times with this particular genre of The Bizarro Bachelor that all seemed to start with Flavor of Love. Let's just hope this one disappears quietly and doesn't spawn something like Enter the Spray Tan Booth of Love with Kim or some other horrible horrible spin-off show.
