It is so appropriate that on a show like
That's Amore!, there is a moment of confusion as the contestants try to figure out if a contestant is bleeding or simply covered in pizza sauce? Is something genuine happening or is this just more gimmick? In this case,
Christina actually was bleeding for her man,
Domenico Nesci, but no one can be blamed for having a moment of doubt.
So we are two episodes in, and I am starting to have one major question answered, but another big one still lingers. No, the first is not “Will Domenico find love?” and the second is not “But will it be reciprocated?”

The first question was: at what point will seeing Domenico act the player, kiss a lot of ladies, and have to coldly cut them off make him start seeming less cute and cuddly and more like every other television Bachelor we've ever seen?
Answer: Episode 2 of
That's Amore!.He did have one compassionate moment when he noted that
Rebecca – victim a la Stephen King's Carries of the pack of roving Alpha Blondes
Kim and
Missy – is the current underdog, much as he was on
A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila. But other than that, he seems to be starting to relish his power on the show in a way that works against his lovable puppy-dog persona.
The second question: where do they find these girls? Not just on this show, but on all the reality dating shows in all the world? At least on
That's Amore!, the girls had the chance to see Domenico before trying to date him, so maybe one could understand a little bit why they would seem to have such an irrational attachment to him so quickly. But in general, I just can't imagine any circumstance under which I could be emotionally distraught at the idea of leaving someone I just met like three days ago and with whom I'd spent hardly any time. I can never understand how the hopefuls on dating shows get so worked up about things. Yes, sometimes it's obvious that it's fake, but other times the despair seems really heartfelt. Maybe that's fake too, but the idea of that makes me come back to my standard query about the fakeness of individuals on reality shows: if they could act that well, why are they on a reality show?
But then again, maybe that's my own limitation! Maybe I'm just not a romantic.
Well, we might have lost
Jessica, but we still have waterworks Rebecca, so expect more tears next week!
