These cyborgs would kill for your attention, even though it's so easy to notice them anyway. It's doubtless that these man-made machines are set to take over the entertainment industry. There's
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on the small screen, and a Christian Bale-starring
Terminator: Salvation in cinemas soon. Another aspect of the business will also be targeted by the
Terminator universe, and that is the field of comic books.
A five-issue series called
Terminator: Revolution will be released this December by Dynamite Entertainment. Written by Simon Furman and illustrated by Lui Antonio, Revolution will indeed revolutionize the way fans look at the Connors. It takes the readers to the year 2015, following Furman's
Terminator: Infinity miniseries.
On
Terminator: Revolution, John Connor's human resistance movement prepares to take down Skynet at last. Fans will see the origins of the artificial intelligence company, as they send Terminators across time, in order to ruin Connor and his faction. It also introduces a new breed of Terminator, known as a Dire Wolf.
According to Furman, a Dire Wolf is the
Terminator version of a “Hunter-Killer.” It also “resembles a very big, entirely feral dog.”
“Not only does the Dire Wolf hunt in a straightforward linear fashion, it can scent and track its prey across time. This one really does ‘never give up.'”
Furman makes sure that inconsistencies are eliminated, since the story jumps in and out of three different eras. He took extra care to include prominent elements of the franchise into the comic, as it remains rooted in the original
Terminator film trilogy. He's taking note of every detail in the mythology, and is especially keeping up with
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
“I've really enjoyed ‘The Sarah Connor Chronicles' and from what I've seen and read about ‘Salvation' it looks to be a dark and character-led drama, rather than simply a blockbuster action movie, which I think bodes well,” Furman admitted.
Fans will certainly agree with the writer's next statement: “It's interesting that they've gone the post-'Judgment Day' route so wholeheartedly. I really hope it does well, because I really want more sequels. Just… more Terminator, really!”
