Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

It's been obvious since Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles premiered that FOX thought very highly of the series.  Their star-studded premiere of Terminator last January was a big, highly-hyped event, and the promotion for the series was far-reaching.  FOX's belief in Terminator is not ill-founded; the series is good, a worthy entry into the Terminator canon.  Though the series received respectable ratings numbers over its nine season one episodes, they probably weren't what FOX was hoping for.  If The Sarah Connor Chronicles weren't inextricably linked to a massive film franchise (and, remember, FOX is making the fourth Terminator film as we speak) it probably wouldn't have been picked up for a second season.  But, it was, and now FOX has to try and sell the show to TV viewers who declined to tune in for the first season.  How will they do this?  Well, FOX announced today that they will be airing all nine season one Terminator episodes in a span of two weeks this August. 

Terminator is a serialized show, with one over-arching story-line.  Therefore, it will be difficult for fans to jump right in at the beginning of season 2 with no prior knowledge of the story.  Airing this August marathon is a great idea by FOX, and an easy way for viewers to get acclimated with the Terminator story before season two begins.  And, doing the marathon in late August is perfect, as the late Summer is an especially dead time for network television. 

FOX will air the Terminator pilot Sunday, August 10 at 9pm.  Episodes 2, 3 and 4 will air August 11, 12 and 13.  Episodes 5, 6, 7 and 8 will then air on August 17, 18 19 and 20.  The season one finale will then air on August 24.  Every episode will be on at 9pm.  Then, just two weeks later, the two-hour second season premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will air on September 8, starting at 8pm.
