Film director McG, who is known for his work in the two
Charlie’s Angels films, has been confirmed to direct the film adaptation of the spy novel
Dead Spy Running. The book, which was written by British journalist Jon Stock, centers on the beginnings of MI5 agent Daniel Merchant, still has to hit stores; it is expected to drop in July 2009.
Nevertheless, Warner Bros. already snagged the novel’s film rights after a similarly intense bidding war for publishing rights. The studio has announced that the film might be treated as a new franchise, with McG—who is already at work on
Terminator Salvation, set for release next year—directing what possibly is the first installment.
