Just one week into Survivor: Samoa
, and already we have an villain figure in oil company owner Russell Hantz. Well, we've had villain figures from week one of most Survivor seasons, but... do I have to go into detail again? Water, socks, and kicking Marisa off based on what he thought was a threat towards his survival. 'Nuff said.
The debate is, of course, still going on--for me, what got me against him was the way he manipulated everybody to kick Marisa off--and tonight, expect more fuel for that proverbial bonfire, preferably the sort from Rusty's oil rig. Judging from the sneak peek at the end of last week's episode, it seems he'll be at it again, eliminating one, after another, after another, and so on, and so on...
Survivor is available on Amazon Prime.
Tonight's reward challenge is also going to be a tense one. Back to the sneak peeks, and what they call a "Schmergen Brawl"--an odd name, German sounding for a Samoan setting, or I'm missing something--and for what it's worth it's going to be a very physical, if not muddy, one. I won't be surprised if something pretty permanent comes out of this, and I'm not referring to a chipped tooth like last season.
Now, your textbook-style guide questions. There are the obvious questions--will Foa Foa ever sense Russell's game plan, will it be too late, yada yada yada--and then there are things from the other side. Galu seems to be pulling through, underdog image and all, but I'm sensing a sort of leadership struggle brewing in the future, between the dreadlocked Russell (nice, good, better, pick your adjective) and Shambo. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's pretty likely, right?
And, of course, who'll be voted off tonight? It's still the early stages, and nothing's slightly predictable at the moment. Survivor: Samoa
returns tonight from 8pm on CBS. And I wonder who said that quote that made the episode title?
