Survivor: Micronesia - Ozzy the Puppet Master
Survivor: Micronesia caught me off guard last night.  For the first time all season, the tribal council was legitimately surprising and the Survivor I had assumed would be voted off wasn't.  Well played, Survivor editors.  Fooled me.  After the episode, there was a lot of “You have to admit, that was an impressive move from Erik,” sentiment among fans.  I respectfully disagree.  We saw all the moves that Erik made on the screen last night, none of which were impressive, nor led to Ami's departure.  The only reason the tribal council went down like it did was because Ozzy made it happen.  Don't kid yourselves, Erik alone pulled off no such coup.

Erik Reichenbach, with his sad, puppy dog face, depressed monotone speech and 70's era Farrah Fawcett hair annoys the hell out of me.  We should get that out of the way first.  I'm sorry, it's one of those inexplicable hatreds.  But, that doesn't mean I'm wrong when I say that Ozzy saved Erik.  Erik didn't save himself.  Just remember when Ozzy first came back to camp from Exile Island – Erik went right up to him and started whining about Ami.  To Erik, Ozzy was Vito Corleone on his daughter's wedding day.  Ozzy listened to Erik's speech, patted him on the head, and then took care of it.  Cirie and Amanda, who had just before engaged in a triple lady group hug with Ami, were easily swayed by Ozzy to eliminate Ami instead of Erik.

If the women were really playing the game for themselves, they would have told Ozzy to stuff it, and voted his skinny little admirer off the island on their own.  But, it looks as if Amanda is in for the long haul with the Oz man and Cirie is in self-preservation mode.  For Ozzy, keeping Erik was the obvious choice.  Ami's loyalty was minimal, but Erik's is unwavering.  Erik is pretty much in love with Ozzy and Ozzy can use this to his advantage once the merge hits (next episode!).

What I'm rooting for next week: Erik to immediately go back into an alliance with the Fans after the merge  That would be ruthless.  But it won't happen, because Erik is spineless and is man crushing hard.

Underrated Strategic Move:  Ozzy should immediately let it be known that he has the immunity idol.  Like Yul Kwon before him, outing yourself as the idol holder keeps people from voting for you.  Survivors aren't patient enough to sniff out the idol one week, then vote you off the next.
