Survivor: Micronesia - Fake Idols, Annoying Castaways, and Jealous Lovers
Is there anything better in life then when a Survivor castaway tries to play a fake immunity idol?  It's only happened twice now, but both times it has brought me immense joy.  Maybe it's the brief look of smugness on the fake idol holder's face when they think they've pulled a massive coup.  Maybe it's the way Jeff Probst looks at it and then with a little smile throws it into the fire.  It was almost better that Ozzy's fake whittled Idol was so poorly constructed – it made Eliza Orlins' desperation that much more entertaining.  Survivor: Micronesia merged at exactly the right time and we're set up for a riveting end to the Survivor season.
Survivor is available on Amazon Prime.

I want to derive significance from a Favorite being voted off before a Fan right after the merge, but I can't.  Sometimes, you vote off the person who is the most annoying.  And, Eliza was certainly the most annoying castaway left.  I'd rather not pile on, but there was something wholly irksome about her presence that even made me, as a viewer, weirdly uncomfortable.  I wonder if Ami Cusack's elimination last week had anything do with forward thinking on Ozzy's part – did he want to set up a post-merge scenario where it was easier to get rid of Eliza?  Voting out Ami and keeping Erik ended up being a smart move, because it destroyed any possibility of Ami and Eliza teaming up, possibly bringing in some straggling Fans and turning on Ozzy's crew.

I'm glad Alexis Jones finally got some significant screen time.  Maybe the Survivor editors were waiting to feature her in an episode, knowing that she would end up playing a significant role in the latter half of the season.  As the Fans go, she's far and away the most interesting one remaining, and the fact that she makes Amanda so damn uncomfortable brings a smile to my face.  Now that I know that Alexis appears to be an intelligent girl, and there might be an all-girl alliance in the offing, I have no idea how the rest of the season is going to play out.  Can Jason topple Ozzy in more immunity challenges?  Will Amanda and Alexis engage in an epic cat fight?  Will Erik weigh less than 100 pounds by the time he's voted off?  Will Ozzy be targeted at tribal every week until he's gone?

As much as I'd like to see the Amanda-Ozzy-Parvati-James alliance succeed, I don't have a good feeling about it.  But, an all-female alliance seems unlikely because of Amanda's jealousy regarding Alexis.  And, where does Cirie stand?  She's not a physical threat at this point and she may be able to float along, perhaps as far as the final tribal council.  It's rare to have a Survivor season so up in the air at this juncture.  I love it.
