Survivor: Gabon - Episode 9 Live Thoughts

If you asked me early on in Survivor: Gabon who I was rooting for, I would say Kenny and Bob, without a doubt.  Of course, I said that before knowing that Kenny was going to team up with Crystal and blindside great Survivor players like Charlie and Marcus.  At this point, I don't know who to root for.  As much I want to keep supporting Bob, he has no strong alliance and will be used for a swing vote for a few more weeks before getting the boot.  I GUESS if I had to pick someone at this point, who has a believable chance of winning, I suppose I'll go with Matty.  I can't take Kenny and Crystal running this game for one more week but hopefully tonight, all of that will change.  I'll be here for the next hour updating live so keep refreshing and let us know who you'd like to see go home tonight!

It's obviously not looking good for the rest of Charlie's alliance right now: Corinne, Randy, and Bob.  A miracle would need to happen in order for any of them to make it to final three.  My question right now is: why would Bob tell Sugar that he has a fake idol?

Ooh, tree mail indicates a Survivor auction, which is one of my favorite challenges in any season!  Jeff made a rule: no sharing food or money.  First item up is beer and peanuts.  Sold to Randy for $180.  Next is a covered item which is sold to Kenny for $340.  It's a scroll that says someone has to go to Exile right now and he gets to take their money.  He gets rid of Bob (and his money).  Kenny is coldhearted.  Jeez!   The next item is also covered and goes to Sugar for $340.  It's chocolate and peanut butter. That looks good to me and I'm not even starving!

Susie buys a hot bath and a clean set of her clothes for $340.  The next item is a burger, fries, and coke which goes to Matty for $400.  The next item is covered and goes to Randy for $280 - it's spaghetti, garlic bread, and a glass of wine.  A sealed bottle is the next item and has an advantage in the next immunity challenge.  Corinne buys it for $500, everything she has.  Randy moves quickly on the next item since the first to bid wins.  $20 gets him cookies for the entire tribe.

At Exile, why the heck did Bob open the clues for the idol instead of opting for comfort?  Sometimes, I don't get his strategy!  Back at camp, Matty goes to Sugar with the order for elimination: Bob, Randy, Corinne.  One problem - Randy heard him.   Randy goes to Corinne and wants to ask Bob to give him the idol.  You mean, the fake idol?  I'm getting excited just thinking about tribal council!

For tonight's immunity challenge, players must race across a series of balance beams while carrying bags of puzzle blocks.  The first three people to get all of their bags will move to the final round.  The last three players will have to arrange the blocks while avoiding trip wires, which could tip their blocks over.  The blocks will eventually line up to fall down domino-style and raise a flag.  Corinne won that advantage which means that she automatically moves to the final round.  Matty and Kenny make it to the finals on their own merit.  Kenny tries to make his blocks go but it didn't work.  (Secret cheering going on over here.)    He tried again and wins.  (Secret booing going on over here.)

At camp, Sugar wants Bob to give his fake idol to Randy.  I think he's in.  I'm feeling conflicted.  Part of me is giddy beyond belief but the other part of me feels bad for the guy.  Yup, Bob gave the take idol to Randy.  Oh man.  Is Sugar smarter than we thought?  At tribal, they're fighting over the cookies again.  Jeff makes a good point: what seems like such a small issue is very representative of what is going on in this game.  Time to vote and as Jeff is about to read them, Randy plays the idol.  This is mean.  I'm surprised Bob was part of this joke.  Hope that's worth a million.  (It won't be.)

Here are the votes: Randy.  Randy.  Susie.  Susie.  Susie.  Randy.  Randy.  Last vote goes to Randy.  Don't miss out on his exclusive interview with BuddyTV this week!

Was the fake idol a mean joke to play on Randy?
Yes, it was unnecessary.
No, he got what he deserved.
