Survivor: Gabon - Episode 4 Recap
Thursday, October 09, 2008

If there's one thing a Survivor player should know, it's that they should never sit pretty in this game.  Things can change at any time - people can switch alliances, someone can play a hidden immunity idol, a merge can occur when you least expect it.  From the very beginning this season, solid alliances have been formed.  On the Kota tribe, there is Charlie and Marcus as an inner alliance who pulled in Bob, Corinne, and Jacquie.  On the Fang tribe, Ace and Sugar have not only become good friends but trusted partners in this game.  As a straggler in this game, the best you can hope for is to become a swing vote at a crucial tribal council but like I said, this game can change at any time - and tonight, it did.

There is no reward challenge tonight and that’s not the only surprise for the players. Jeff drops a bomb on the tribes – they’ll have to rank the tribes from top to bottom, in order of importance.

Kota tribe rankings: Marcus, Ace, Bob, Charlie, Jacquie, Corinne, Sugar, and Kelly
Fang tribe rankings: Matty, Dan, Randy, Crystal, Ken, GC, and Susie

Marcus and Matty are allowed to remain on their tribes and are the new team captains.

New Kota tribe: Marcus , Dan, Charlie, Randy, Corinne , Susie, and GC
New Fang tribe: Matty, Ace, Crystal, Jacquie, Ken, and Kelly

Jessica, who is not picked, is sent back to Exile Island (even though she already has the idol). She’ll have to stay there all the way through the next tribal council. She’ll join whichever team loses someone so that there are an even 14 players remaining in the game. At Exile, since Sugar picked the clues last time, she goes with comfort and is thrilled to find out that she’ll be staying in a little hut full of fresh fruit.

For tonight’s immunity challenge, Jeff will toss a ball into the water where tribe members must retrieve is using a lacrosse-type stick, passing the ball to each other, and get it into the opposing tribe’s goal. The first tribe to get 3 points will win and be safe from tribal council.  Randy scores all 3 points for Kota while Fang turns in an absolutely dismal performance.

Back at the Fang camp, the original members debate between getting rid of Ace, Jacquie, and Kelly.  At tribal council, it seems no one feels safe since this new tribe doesn't know each other that well.  In the end, the tribe decides to eliminate Jacquie.

What should be the criteria for voting someone out, at this point, in Survivor?
Being a weak physical player
Being obnoxious and difficult around camp
Being a strong physical threat
