It's been almost two weeks since the last new episode of
Survivor: Gabon, and I'm starting to go through withdrawals.
Survivor is a weekly ritual, and once a season gets going, I need that weekly fix. In case you hadn't heard,
CBS announced their mid-season schedule yesterday, and
Survivor will be returning to its well-worn Thursday 8pm time slot for another season on February 12. Hooray to longevity. The last time we saw a new episode of
Survivor: Gabon, Randy “Ebenezer” Bailey was unnecessarily, yet hilariously, humiliated at tribal council and sent on his merry way to spend some quality time with Marcus and Charlie back at Ponderosa. What does Thursday's episode have in store? Allow me to tap into my unlimited psychic powers and let you know...
OK, I'm ready.
Bob Will Continue to be Concerned with his Own Advancement
Bob isn't the sweet old man we all assumed him to be. Maybe he felt bad about selling former alliance member Randy down the river two weeks ago, but he didn't hesitate. Randy was already the probable target of the Alliance of Underdogs, but Bob had to make absolutely sure. Not only did Bob's fake idol play humiliate Randy and secure his departure, it was an olive branch to Sugar at an important point in the game. We've been treated to the promos for Thursday's episode, in which we see Bob telling us that Marcus didn't really throw the immunity idol into the ocean, but instead held onto it and hid it somewhere around camp. Whether this is true, or Bob just built a new idol, doesn't matter. Bob is clearly only looking out for number one, and I suspect he'll save himself for at least one more week.
The Immunity Idol Ruse Will Be a Fraud
Also – I don't buy the “Marcus kept the idol” idea. Bob is making it up. He has to be. I mean, it'd be awesome if Bob actually found a real idol. However, Marcus would have had to be incredibly sneaky to pull off such a heist. It made sense for Marcus to get rid of the idol at that point, if you remember – he appeared to be in a position of great power.
Susie Will Be Eliminated
The obvious choice would be Corinne, but with the alliance numbers at 5 vs. 2 the Underdogs can afford to off one of their own, and who better than Susie, who has proved her traitorous tendencies by defecting to the underdogs in the first place. Matty and Sugar, especially, seem poised to switch sides and form new alliances as the game gets closer to the finish. Also – I can't stand Susie, so there might be some wishful thinking involved here.
Did Marcus really hide the immunity idol somewhere in camp?
