After a devastating loss in last night's
Survivor immunity challenge that saw the Raro tribe squander what looked like an insurmountable lead, all indications pointed to police woman
Cristina getting unanimously voted off. Her fellow tribe mates were growing sick of Cristina's bossiness and seemingly self-appointed position as the tribe's alpha dog. However, one little slip of the tongue by
Stephannie Favor saved Cristina and doomed the nursing student and mother of two.
Walking with tribe mate
Nate, Stephannie made an off-handed remark that she could use some mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner that night. Now, this is the kind of thing that people routinely say in times when poor cuisine is forced upon them. Without asking Stephannie if her statement was indicative an overall feeling of discontent, Nate came to the conclusion that Stephannie was not mentally in the game. He proceeded to inform his tribe mates of his conclusion that Stephannie no longer wanted to be on
Survivor.
Of course, crafty editing may have covered up important information in the tribe's ultimate decision, but I

- feel very bad for Stephannie. Her one comment, spoken in a humorous, light-hearted manner was the only factor in her getting voted off of Survivor.
I'm not saying Cristina deserved the boot, but she did get very lucky. The Raro tribe is struggling and Aitu looks like it should be a force to be reckoned with as the game goes on. There's a very good chance that Cristina gets kicked off Survivor next week anyway, in which case Stephannie's verbal blunder will become inconsequential.
