CBS announced nationwide casting calls for Survivor 16 today, which is set to air in the spring of 2008.  The casting calls will be held in conjunction with various local CBS affiliates who will save hopefuls the trouble of sending their tape in to CBS on their own.  All a person has to do is show up at the casting call and the local CBS affiliate will tape your audition and send it to CBS themselves, where the casting crew will watch every single tape and piece together the castaways for Survivor 16.   This is nothing new, as Survivor has always held casting calls (although they haven't always cast people who try out because in recent seasons, most of the castaways were sought out by CBS, many of whom were found on MySpace).  However, it does put a near fatal bullet hole in the rumors that Survivor 16 would be another All-Star edition. 

For reasons we've previously discussed, it seemed plausible that the 16th season of Survivor would be an All-Star edition.  The announcement of these casting calls would seem to prove otherwise.  No matter. as fans appear to be mixed on the issue.  There's nothing wrong with another normal season.  No word yet on the location for Survivor 16.
