In case you haven't heard, Bob Saget has a new series on The CW called
Surviving Suburbia and Cynthia Stevenson has just been cast to play his wife. After playing Police Chief Celia Bachelor on
Men In Trees for the past two seasons, the 46-year-old actress will now try her hand at comedy.
Surviving Suburbia follows Bob Saget, a misanthrope who wants nothing more than to be left a lone in his suburban home. The new series will serve as part of the network's Sunday lineup, all of which will be produced by studio Media Rights Capital, starting in September.
Aside from
Men In Trees, Stevenson was a regular cast member on the series
Dead Like Me, playing lead character George (Ellen Muth)'s mother. In April 2006, she completed filming a new sitcom pilot for CBS called
You've Reached the Elliotts, starring opposite Chris Elliott as his wife. Unfortunately, the show was not picked up.
On the big screen, Stevenson has appeared in
The Player, Happiness, Agent Cody Banks and
Agent Cody Banks 2. She also appeared in a series on Lifetime Television called
Oh Baby.
Meanwhile,
Surviving Suburbia isn't the only upcoming acting gig for the
Men in Trees actress. In fact, she has a string of movie projects slated until next year. She has just completed filming the horror thriller
Case 39 and is presently busy working on the comedy
Will You Merry Me. The former stars Renée Zellweger, Jodelle Ferland, Ian McShane, Kerry O'Malley, Bradley Cooper and Callum Keith Rennie, while the latter stars Tommy Lioutas, Wendie Malick, David Eisner, Reagan Pasternak and Rahnuma Panthaky, just to name a few. Next year, she will be featured in the fantasy comedy
Dead Like Me and
I Love You, Beth Cooper, which is currently in post-production stages.
