Get ready for one of the most surreal casting stories you're likely to hear for a while. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Whodunnit? host Gildart Jackson has been cast in a potentially recurring role on the CW's Supernatural.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

Jackson will play Haggerty, a member of the scholarly group the Men of Letters, in a 1930s flashback. He will appear in the fourth episode of Supernatural season 9, "Slumber Party," with the possibility of returning later.

The actor is currently best known as Giles the Butler on the ABC murder mystery game show Whodunnit? On the show, a group of contestants attempt to solve murders and predict which one of them is the killer, with the loser each week becoming the "murder" victim the following week.

If you watch Whodunnit?, you know Jackson's performance as a creepy and wickedly twisted butler is one of the highlights, as he sets a campy tone for the series. It's not easy to pull off a straight face when he has to shoot a mountain lion with a tranquilizer dart or act shocked at discovering yet another murdered contestant while offering a pun about the way they died.

Jackson joins Battlestar Galactica's Tahmoh Penikett in the Supernatural family this season. His previous acting work includes roles on General Hospital and Charmed.

Supernatural season 9 premieres Tuesday, October 8 at 9pm on the CW.
