fan knows that this week marks the triumphant return of Misha Collins to the show. But that doesn't mean Cas is back. Video: Is Sam Dying?>>
In this new video where executive producer Robert Singer discusses Friday's new episode, "The Born-Again Identity," we learn that Sam is locked up in a mental institution and Dean gets word of a faith healer who might have a cure, only that healer is played by Misha Collins.
The most interesting part of the video is the fact that the faith healer is named Emmanuel. That's a name that comes as loaded with Biblical baggage as is possible.
Here's the quote from Matthew 1:23 in the King James Bible: "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."
Combined with the "born-again" title, perhaps Castiel's death meant that he was reborn as the son of God. Or maybe he is God.
We saw Castiel wade into the water at the start of season 7, filled with Leviathans, and then he exploded and all Dean found was his trenchcoat. God has brought an exploded Cas back before (whether it's at the start of season 5 when he fought the archangel trying to kill Chuck) or the end of season 5 (when Lucifer snapped his fingers and blew him into a million pieces), Naturally, it seems only logical that God would have a hand in bringing Cas back from the dead once again.
Do you think new Cas is the son of God? Or is he God? Or is he something else?
