It was all about Castiel on last night's
Supernatural as the angel left the building and allowed his vessel, Jimmy Novak, to go back to his life. However, as powerful as Cas' departure and return were, the real shocking twist of the episode came from Sam.
Feeding on demon blood all season long finally caught up to him as he went through serious withdrawal, unable to perform and acting irritable. Luckily for him, he managed to get his fix when he slit open a demon and started drinking her blood in the middle of a fight, only this time, Dean was right there to see the whole gruesome scene.
Supernatural is filled with disturbing images, but seeing Sam's mouth
smeared with fresh demon blood could be one of the worst. However, the
situation isn't as black and white as people might think. After Sam
drank the demon blood, he was able to successfully kill the demon
inside Jimmy's wife without hurting her.
If Sam didn't drink the blood, that wouldn't have happened and there's
a possibility the boys would've killed Jimmy's wife. It's often an
argument from drug addicts that they perform better when they're high,
but in Sam's case, that really is the truth. But does that make a
difference?
Not to Dean and not to Uncle Bobby (at least not yet) as the episode
ended with Sam being locked away to dry out. Is this the best thing?
Fans seems to think so as 87 percent of you believe Sam needs rehab,
while only 13 percent, like Amy Winehouse, say "No, no, no."
Only time will tell, but the previews showed that Lilith is just one
Seal away from bringing Lucifer to Earth, and as much as we all want
Sam to be virtuous, if I had to decide between letting Lucifer rise or
letting Sam drink all the demon blood he wants, I'd go for the latter.
SHOUT-OUTS:
The Supernatural Villains challenge seems more difficult than I
thought, but despite some fierce competition, we do have two winners.
First, congratulations to a new user,
KalthoumKang2, for being the
first person to post a Crossroads Demon badge.
Second, congratulations to
NoraBridges2 for getting The Trickster. In
honor of your achievement, I've sent the Virtual Gift of a
True Blood
Drink from the HBO vampire series in honor of trying to ween Sam off of
the real stuff. Also, here's what NoraBridges2 had to say about this
episode:
"Oh my god!! I was shocked by Castiel's comments to Dean. I guess it's
time for him to prove he's worth the free pass out of hell. I don't
want the brothers to be on opposite sides. I understand why it's
happening, but-come on!!! It's Dean and Sam! They have to be fighting
side by side-isn't that what John would have wanted?! There's still two
more episodes this season, and I already can't wait for season 5!!!"
How do you feel about Sam's demon blood addiction?
