Prayers might be answered of both the fictional and actual kind. After months of speculation it has been officially announced that a fan favorite character is returning to CW’s Supernatural. TVLine reports that Rob Benedict, otherwise known as Chuck Shurley (and possibly God), is reprising his role in season 11 of Supernatural

Details are obviously scarce on Chuck’s return besides the fact that he will appear in episode 20 of season 11. Considering how many mentions, references and prayers have been made to God, it would be a surprise if he doesn’t play a very important role.

It would certainly be a waste if Chuck doesn’t even interact with Lucifer and God’s sister, Amara, in the episode. At the very least Supernatural will hopefully answer once and for all if Chuck really is God. Supernatural fans will have to wait until later this year to find out how Chuck returns and helps the Winchesters though.

In other news of Supernatural help, Misha Collins is launching a new support group for fans. Misha is partnering with his fellow co-stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, along with other actors, to create The SPNFamily Crisis Support Network. Entertainment Weekly reports that the charity group will be focused specifically in helping fans with mental illness.

Speaking about the new venture Misha Collins said, “We have occasion to meet thousands and thousands of Supernatural fans and at every event, every one of us encounters as many as a dozen people who share really heart-rending stories about self-harm or addiction or depression or suicide attempts.” The SPNFamily Crisis Support Network hopes to build a community to help fans who are dealing with issues such as depression, self-injury and addiction.

Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins have recently launched a T-shirt campaign. The campaign called “You Are Not Alone” is selling T-shirts and the proceeds will help fund the new support network. The T-shirts can be purchased here.

But what do you think of Chuck Shurley’s return? Is the fact that the reprise is occurring in this season confirmation that Chuck and God are one in the same? Is it a red herring? Do you think Chuck is actually God? Do you hope or think Chuck will interact with Lucifer and/or Amara? Will you participating in Jensen and Misha’s T-shirt campaign?

Supernatural season 11 airs Wednesdays at 9pm on The CW.
