When I wrote the preview for last week's
Supernatural episode, "In the Beginning," the Internet nearly exploded after I reported that Sam would only appear on screen for about 45 seconds. Fans of
Jared Padalecki almost took to the streets in protest, but they needn't worry, because the younger Winchester looks to play a major role in tomorrow night's episode, which is entitled "Metamorphosis." We have some pictures and a clip from the installment, and all of them feature plenty of Sam. "Metamorphosis" looks to be less mythology-heavy than "In the Beginning," but it'll certainly feature enough brotherly conflict to make fans happy.
The CW's official episode description reads: "Sam and Dean (
Jensen Ackles) discover that Jack Montgomery, a family man, is turning into a Rugaru, a creature that starts as a human but changes into a flesh-eating monster. The people who are infected don't understand what is happening until they turn into cannibals and eat another person. Understanding what it is like to be a victim of a twisted destiny, Sam believes he can reason with Jack and convince him to control his urges. Dean doesn't think Jack's animalistic behavior can be subdued and decides the only honorable thing to do is to shoot him."
The first photo from the episodes features Sam, Ruby and Jack. Yes, it looks like Ruby 2.0 is back in this episode, and though I've yet to be impressed by Genevieve Cortese, maybe she can change my mind this week.
Sam checks out something on his cell phone in the next picture. It's not an overly exciting shot, but it does prove that the episode will have plenty of Sam!
The third photo shows what looks to be a tense confrontation between Sam and Dean. Judging from the picture and the promo for the episode, I'm guessing Dean is going to confront his brother about his secret shenanigans with Ruby.
The clip from tomorrow night's
Supernatural shows Sam and Dean staking out Jack's house. Jack's growing desire to eat people actually reminds me of a great episode of
The X-Files called "Hungry," which is about a fast food employee who feels a growing desire to munch on people's brains. The episode didn't end particularly well for him, so we'll see what happens to Jack.
The new episode of
Supernatural, "Metamorphosis," airs Thursday at 9pm on the CW.
What's the verdict on Ruby 2.0?
