Sera Gamble has been essential to the success of
Supernatural over the past four seasons. She's the woman responsible for writing some of the best episodes of the series, including "Jus in Bello," "Faith," "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Crossroad Blues." Gamble has a knack for bringing to life the brotherly banter that
Supernatural fans know and love, and soon she'll get to show off her talents in another sci-fi-themed drama. According to
The Hollywood Reporter, Gamble is co-creating and executive producing a new drama for Showtime entitled
Syns. Former
Jericho consulting producer John McNamara is working with Gamble on the project, which centers on a world where humanlike synthetic organisms, known as Syns, are used for strange and unusual purposes.
Viewers can expect
Syns to resemble
Jericho more than
Supernatural, as it won't take place in a universe filled with monsters and demons. The project was originally developed for the BBC, and though it does contain some light sci-fi elements, it's mostly rooted in the real world. There's no word yet on when the show will premiere, but Gamble is currently writing the script for the pilot episode.
Many
Supernatural fans are likely wondering how this position will affect Gamble's role as supervising producer on the CW series. There's been no mention of her leaving
Supernatural, but if Showtime decides to pick up
Syns as a series there's a good chance she'll have to move on. I'm planning to sit down with Gamble for an interview within the next few weeks, so I'll be sure to talk to her about her future with the Winchester brothers.
What do you think of this team up between creative folks from
Supernatural and
Jericho? Will you watch
Syns if it gets picked up by Showtime? Sound off in the comments below.
