She is the daughter of 70s pop idol David Cassidy and former model Sherry Benedon, though the relationship between her parents was periodically off and on, and they never got married. Katie is also the granddaughter of actors Jack Cassidy and Evelyn Ward. She was raised in Calabasas, California by her stepfather Richard Benedon, along with two half-sisters named Jamie and Jenna.
