UPDATE: It looks like we have our answer. According to
TVGuide.com, it's Smallville that will be moving to Friday nights at 8pm, paving the way for exactly what I wanted: a
Vampire Diaries/
Supernatural one-two punch.
Tomorrow morning the CW officially announces its Fall schedule, but most of it is already determined. Six shows were renewed earlier in the season, and now it's been confirmed that three new shows are being added. That leaves one hour of open primetime, but given the network's track record, that will most likely be filled with an
America's Next Top Model repeat.
The six returning shows are:
America's Next Top Model,
90210,
Smallville,
Supernatural,
Gossip Girl and
One Tree Hill. The three new sdows are the modeling world drama
The Beautiful Life, the vampire brothers drama
The Vampire Diaries and the new
Melrose Place. The much-hyped
Gossip Girl prequel spin-off was not picked up.
The question now is: what will be where? Will CW President Dawn
Ostroff shake things up and move everything around, or will almost
everything remain exactly where it is? Nearly every show has a perfect
companion, but will Ostroff go for the obvious?
Melrose Place and
90210 go together like peanut butter and jelly, as do
ANTM and the model drama
The Beautiful Life.
Gossip Girl and
One Tree
Hill pair nicely, and that leaves the three sci-fi themed dramas, one
of which will be without a partner.
Later Wednesday evening it was reported by TVGuide.com that
Smallville lost this three-way race and will be moving to Fridays at 8pm, preceding reruns of
America's Next Top Model. With that news, the Fall schedule becomes much easier to predict.
MONDAY:
8pm -
Gossip Girl
9pm -
One Tree Hill
TUESDAY:
8pm -
90210
9pm -
Melrose Place
WEDNESDAY:
8pm -
America's Next Top Model
9pm -
The Beautiful Life
THURSDAY:
9pm -
The Vampire Diaries
9pm -
Supernatural
FRIDAY:
8pm - Smallville
9pm -
ANTM Encores
The Friday night death slot is unfortunate for
Smallville, but since that show is going into its ninth and probably final season, the CW is smart to be trying out some fresh blood with Supernatural, especially since
The Vampire Diaries token sexy, supernatural brothers are a perfect companion to the Winchesters.
How would you schedule the CW's Fall lineup? You play the programming
director and see if, tomorrow morning, you're right or wrong.
