PRO-GHOSTFACERS:
BuddyTV's AndreaDraco83 says: "I love 'em for three different reasons: 1) They are smart parodies of Sam and Dean, ironic spoofs of our beloved, serious and often grim hunters: I love the episodes where the Winchester brothers chill out and make us laugh, and I think that Ed and Harry are just the perfect comic sidekick of such episodes. 2) They are endearing characters on their own, being so naive that I really find them irresistible and the Ghostfacers crew was so varied that I instantly believed in it. 3) Amongst Supernatural comedic/ironic/burlesque episodes, the two episodes in which the Ghostfaces appear are brilliantly plotted, cleverly written, masterfully directed and - most important of all - perfectly acted by all the four actors! For all these reasons, if the upcoming episode is as good as the previous ones ("Hell House" and "Ghostfacers"), I'm all for them!"
SupernaturalTV's Steffs says: "I love them. The affectionate poke at the ghost hunting community is wonderfully subtle and the two actors have a unique rapour on screen an off because I have seen them work their magic in person. Utterly hilarious and without them we would never get such great improvised lines as ‘Chisel Chest’ Long may they re-haunt…I mean hunt."
Supernatural TV's Maz says: "I like the Ghostfacers. They serve a purpose - a little comic relief when it’s needed. Their first episode was hilarious and fitted right in with the humour of the brothers’ prank wars. Their second episode was also well done - one of the “experimental” shows that worked. It was funny but also quite moving, while allowing the Winchesters to display all the characteristics we love. If the remaining seasons progress towards the rallying of armies I can see them being useful allies and plot indicators of the seriousness of the situation, albeit in their unique often inept way. I mean, at least they’ve seen some of what’s out there."
BuddyTysV's Braid7 sa: "I love 'em! They are not over-used which is, I think, the key to using any comedic character. Also a lot of their appeal has to be credited to the actors, especially AJ Buckley (who is already endearing enough on CSI : New York!!!) and Travis Wester who are a match made in TV heaven. I still miss Corbett though (and watching Dustin Milligan on 90210 is just not the same!!!). I like that the Ghostfacers appearance is now sort of an annual Supernatural event and hope to see them again in Season 5."
Supernatural TV's Catchme21 says: "The Ghostfacers are so ridiculous that they’re a perfect addition to the show. I have to agree with Jane, I probably wouldn’t watch them if they had their own show but I love them on SN. Sam and Dean play well off of them, and they’re a much needed relief from all of the darkness shadowing this season.
You need a few laughs to keep from drowning in the angst I think…"
BuddyTV's jrc says: "I think I like the Ghostfacers because they are such a good parody of Sam and Dean. They live in a state of blissful ignorance, and are completely unaware of how different their ideas of 'hunting' ghost is compared to the hard reality of being hunters like Sam and Dean. Plus they are sorta like the comedy version of Sam and Dean themselves. It's nice sometimes to compare the bleakness and professionalism that is innate to Sam and Dean in such opposition to Harry and Ed's fairytale version of the supernatural. Plus, they're flippin hilarious and have excellent timing and chemistry with each other and with Jensen and Jared."
Last but not least, here are the results of the very scientific Ghostfacers Love 'Em or Hate 'Em Poll:
With 675 votes tallied
72% of you said "Love 'Em"
and
28% of you said "Hate 'Em."
And that concludes The Great Ghostfacers Debate, where The Ghostfacers seem to have somehow survived another adventure.
