Naturally, the real Sam and Dean investigate by talking to the hotel manager and, with some bribes, they learn this mystery game is based on a true story, so they go up to the attic which is where the old lady was killed. Unfortunately for them, two LARPers, Fat Dean and Skinny Sam, overhear this and think its all part of the game.
Sam and Dean go up to the attic and encounter a creepy scalped kid while Fat Dean and Skinny Sam find a ghost kid of their own and are led to a real clue about the real mystery, but they think its all part of the game. Fat Dean could be my new favorite character, because he adopts a hilariously gruff voice and is way too into it.
In the dining room, Sam and Dean see Fat Dean and Skinny Sam with a map, so they convince them to team up and find the cemetery. However, the LARPers get to play Sam and Dean, meaning Sam is now Rufus and Dean is now Bobby. Outside, Sam and Dean take out their shovels and start digging up the grave, and that's when their LARPing doppelgangers start to freak the heck out. They're just playing, they're not about to dig up corpses.
But they stand by and watch, and once the body is dug up, they're even more frightened by the ghost of the crazy old lady. She attacks the LARPers while Dean salts and burns the bones, making the ghost disappear.
Now, of course, the two have to admit that maybe this is all real, which is pretty scary. They all go back inside because now everything is fixed, but it's only halfway through the episode. Naturally, there's more to the story, because now everyone is locked inside the hotel.
Fritz the German Hook Man wanders the corridors and finds the three ghost boys. He's annoyed that, once again,
Supernatural is resorting to creepy children. In spite of myself, I really like Fritz. This, of course, means the ghost kids kill him. Come on, couldn't they have killed the Ash impersonator instead?
Sam and Dean go into overdrive and lock everyone in the ballroom, salting it so they'll be safe. They get Chuck to do some more Q&A to stall for time. Chuck then starts revealing details about the next books and he promises that angels aren't as lame as you might think. I totally agree, since Cas rocks.
