While waiting for Dean to meet her for their date, Jamie has a run-in with Dracula, who she promptly maces in the face. Luckily, Dean shows up to brawl with the count before he can do any damage. After he rips the vamp's ear off, Dracula runs away, hops a fence and drives off on a motorized scooter. It's nice to see an old-school monster using such modern transportation.
Dean shows Sam the ear he collected, which he can tell is made from the skin of a shape-shifter. He also finds a prop label on the piece of Drac's cape he ripped off. It's obvious the shifter is reenacting moments from his favorite monster movies, but why is he fixating on Jamie? She thinks Ed might be the culprit. He has a crush on her and works at the old movie theater, so he seems like a viable lead. As Sam goes to investigate, Dean bonds with the bartender over his crazy demon-hunting lifestyle. He opens up to her a bit, telling her about his "near-death experience" and his mission from God, which leads her to ask if he's some sort of celibate monk. Just as they start to kiss, they're interrupted by a booze-seeking bar maid named Lucy.
Sam (
Jared Padalecki) finds Ed jamming on the organ at the old movie theater, but when he tries to pull his ear off he figures out that Ed isn't the shifter. It's actually Lucy, who drugs Dean and Jamie's drinks and knocks them both out. Dean wakes up tied to a table in a lab that would make Victor Frankenstein jealous, and soon finds himself chatting with the wannabe Dracula. "You do realize what happens at the end of every monster movie?" Dean asks, ensuring the monster that he's going to kill him. Drac insists his movie will end differently, but before he can plot his finale he's interrupted by a pizza boy at the front door. The vamp even has a coupon for his garlic-free pizza, which is quite thrifty of him.
