The only thing that can kill a Rugaru is fire, which Travis knows since he killed Jack's monstrous daddy back in the day. Sam comes in with some research pointing out that Jack will never turn into a Rugaru if he doesn't taste human flesh. In other words, he can be saved if they just sit down and talk to him. Dean jokes that Sam loves research so much that he "keeps it under his mattress next to the KY," which is both disgusting and hilarious. Travis thinks it's impossible for Jack to resist his hunger, but Sam is certain the man can be helped.
When Jack finally returns home from the bar, his wife is pissed that he ran off while she went to the hospital with a bleeding finger. The two soon start making out, but it's not exactly a slow seduction. Jack immediately tries to gnaw into his wife's shoulder, which kills the mood quickly. The next day, Sam (
Jared Padalecki) and Dean argue about what to do with Mr. Rugaru. Dean thinks Sam relates a bit too much to a guy with evil in his blood, which gets Sam ranting about how his brother always talks to him like he's a freak. The siblings have it out on the side of the road, where Sam explains that he wants to use the demon blood inside of him for something good. He knows he's a weirdo, so he might as well be a helpful weirdo.
Sam and Dean show up at Jack's house to talk to him about his Hungry Hungry Hippo eating habits. Of course he thinks they sound crazy, but Dean explains that he's going to be craving some Manburger Helper soon enough. Jack is less than thrilled to discover that his dad was killed due to his craving for man-meat, so he kicks the brothers off his property. Later that night, Jack climbs up a fire escape to a strange woman's apartment and can barely resist breaking in and eating her. Luckily, Sam and Dean kick her door down just in time to save the day and see her topless.
