Supernatural: Episode 4.2 "Are You There God? It's Me, Dean Winchester" Recap (Page 4/4)
The latest contestant on Ghostly Guilt Trip Theater is Dean, who finds himself cornered in the kitchen by Henricksen. The dead agent lets Dean know that the people in the police station didn't die painlessly. Lilith tortured them for 45 minutes before blowing the place up. Just as Henricksen is ready to rip Dean apart, Sam bursts in and saves the day. With not a moment to spare, Bobby finally gets the spell going. Sam and Dean fend off the ghosts of Meg, Ronald, Henricksen and the
Shining girls while Bobby completes the spell, sending everyone back to the afterlife where they belong.
After everyone is asleep that night, Castiel appears to have a chat with Dean. Dean wants to know where his guardian angel was when he was getting his ass kicked, but Castiel reminds him that angels are warriors of God, not
Highway to Heaven do-gooders. Dean wants to know why God doesn't come down to help people out, and it seems the old "He works in mysterious ways" adage is the only answer. Castiel informs Dean that the rising of the witnesses is one of the 66 seals. Lilith is trying to break all the seals, and if she succeeds Lucifer will walk the Earth. Yes, THE Lucifer. The Winchesters versus Satan himself? Bring it on!
Lilith succeeded in breaking one seal, but Castiel believes Dean can stop her from breaking the other 65. Unfortunately, he can't watch Dean's back every second. There are other angels walking the Earth, and they all have plenty of business to attend to. "You should show me some respect," the angel reminds Dean. "I dragged you out of Hell. I can throw you back in."
As the episode comes to an end, Dean wakes up from his "dream" about Castiel and asks Sam if he believes in the devil. If he doesn't now, I think he will in the very near future.
