If the upcoming Supernatural finale didn’t already have your stomach twisted into knots, this new teaser from Ruth Connell (who plays Rowena) will certainly do the trick.

Rounding out what has certainly been one of Supernatural‘s strongest seasons to date, Thursday’s doubleheader will bring three disparate stories to their heart-rending conclusions. By the time the credits role on “All Along the Watchtower,” some segments of the fandom will be in for a long hell-atus.

“I feel like the end of the season is going to ruffle quite a few feathers in the fandom,” Connell said at last weekend’s Ottawa Comiccon. “I’m going to say that I don’t think things are going to get easier, let’s put it that way.”

As per the Shaving People Punting Things teaser (see video below), everyone’s lives are on the line. As we wait for Crowley (Mark Sheppard) to make his majestic resurrection, Castiel (Misha Collins) will square off with a shocking (and unseen) assailant, the Winchester bros. will battle their way out of the bunker, and everyone will have to confront Mary’s (Samantha Smith) future as a Men of Letter’s automaton. There’s also that pesky little problem of Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) and his unborn son, of course. Just a slight inconvenience, right?

The idea that Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean’s (Jensen Ackles) lives are only going to become more complicated is worrisome in and of itself. Even the cast was shocked by the season closer.

“I gotta say, when I read the last few episodes, I didn’t expect it to go where it went and I’m very excited that it went there,” Padalecki teased at April’s Salute to Supernatural in Seattle.

Is Supernatural Needlessly Killing off Female Characters?

Whatever insanity goes down during the two-hour finale, we’re hoping all our heroes emerge with their mortal coils still intact. Considering the stakes, our earnest entreaties may just be in vain. The Winchesters are locked in a struggle for the very soul of the American hunters — a pitched battle that could put everyone from Jody to Garth on the front lines. Perhaps it’s finally time for Dean to break out that grenade launcher.
