For the first time, the MTV Movie Awards have expanded to include the best of television. Stranger Things emerged as a big contender on the TV side while new films like Get Out and Beauty and the Beast picked up plenty of nominations. Many categories combine TV and film, giving us weird categories like Best Hero, where The Flash and Arrow from TV compete against Rogue One and Hidden Figures.

2017 MTV Movie and TV Award Nominations: 'Stranger Things,' 'Get Out' and More

FX’s Atlanta, HBO’s Game of Thrones and NBC’s This Is Us also picked up multiple nominations, as did the CW’s Jane the Virgin. Taraji P. Henson has nominations for both film and television thanks to Hidden Figures and Empire.

The big winners at the Oscars, Moonlight and La La Land, are also represented, competing against each other for Best Kiss.

The 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards will air Sunday, May 7 at 8/7c on MTV. The ceremony will be hosted by comedian and actor Adam Devine, best known for his work in Pitch Perfect as well as Workaholics and Modern Family.
