'Star Trek: The Next Generation' Star Wil Wheaton Joins 'The Guild'
Writer and actor Wil Wheaton was obviously popular for his work on Star Trek: The Next Generation, where he played the character Wesley Crusher.  He has claimed that he too didn't exactly like the role, but enjoyed playing it nonetheless.  Now, however, he's already appeared on several films and television shows and built up his career in showbiz.  He even got a part in the famous online sitcom written by Felicia Day, The Guild.

During Friday's Comic-Con panel, it was announced that Wil Wheaton would be joining the Internet sensation as it airs its third season.  The first episode of the upcoming installment was screened, much to the delight and surprise of fans.

On the preview, many witnessed Wil Wheaton's appearance as he portrayed a villainous character confronting Codex (portrayed by Felicia Day) and her fellow guild members.  The actor admitted that it was difficult for him to keep the news to himself, since it was too exciting to pass up.

Wheaton revealed that he would've posted the news on Twitter immediately if given the chance, but had to restrain himself for the Comic-Con surprise.  During his week of filming, he could barely contain the enthusiasm.

Though Wil Wheaton has never played World of Warcraft, which is what The Guild centers on, he was still ecstatic.  His role will be that of a leader for a new rival guild, known as Axis of Anarchy.

There were also a lot of shockers concerning the show, from the appearance of the stars to the news about putting The Guild on comics form.  Whatever the case, fans of Wheaton will surely find his role on the webseries in the show a refreshing revelation.

Other than his Star Trek fame, Wil Wheaton has been seen on a number of independent films throughout his career.  He was also in several television episodes, such as those on Numb3rs and Criminal Minds.  In addition, he has lent his voice to numerous characters, from Aqualad in Teen Titans to his animated version on Family Guy.
