Fans of the hilarious
South Park gang are happy to know that their favorite show is returning with its midseason premiere tonight at 10pm on Comedy Central. Titled “The China Problem,” the episode will follow Cartman as he struggles to raise awareness about the threat that the Chinese post against the United States. Moreover, he must confront them alone while the Americans are haunted by the memory of recent tragic events.
Cartman realized that the Chinese are days away from invading America after he sees the intimidating national ceremonies at the recent Olympic games. Butters comes to Cartman’s aid as he sets out to defend his nation.
Meanwhile, gaming company Ubisoft has linked up to
South Park to advertise their alternative sports title, Shaun White Snowboarding. In fact, the company is taking on a new approach to the videogame ad formula. Fans of
South Park who will tune in tonight will be the first to get a glimpse of the company’s new game. For
South Park’s premiere, Ubisoft purchased inventory and rill run three separate two-minute spots for games Shaun White Snowboarding, Prince of Persia and Farcry 2. The second new episode will only feature ads for Shaun White Snowboarding.
"It's the first time they are going to see the game, so we wanted to give them a nice grasp of what it looks like," said Danny Ruiz, associate director of brand marketing, Ubisoft, San Francisco. "This is a better alternative to running a bunch of 30-second ads that p--- people off because they've seen them so many times."
"We're not sure what the return-on-investment will be, but if we follow the traditional route, it will bore our audience," said Ruiz of their unconventional approach to marketing their product.
