Life and its many problems take its toll on a young single mother on ABC Family's heartwarming yet comedic series, Sophie.  The title character, portrayed by Natalie Brown, is having the worst time ever as she's trying to find the balance to take on several challenges that keep barging in her way.  She still can't get used to it, but she's moving forward and taking one problem at a time.

The successful Sophie Parker is intelligent and beautiful, with a booming talent agency and loving boyfriend.  As a mom-to-be, she has several responsibilities to fulfill, which she takes on in stride.  However, things start falling apart as her beau for several years, Rick (Sebastian Spence) leaves her right before the child is born.  What's worse, he moves in with Sophie's best friend and top client, Melissa (Amy Lalonde).  Sophie's desperate to have everything back the way it was, and it's never that easy.

Rick's infidelity isn't the only thing that's bothering her.  He's also opened up a rival talent agency, stealing business straight from Sophie's talent list.  All that's left of her is a single client, the demanding and difficult Estelle (Sara Botsford).  The aging actress just won't let go of her ancient fame, and her antics can be too much to handle.  But then again, she's practically part of the family - that is, being the mistress of Sophie's father.

With the obstacles she's facing, Sophie's been looking for a shoulder to lean on.  Lucky for her, there's best friend Matt (Jeff Geddis), who's never hesitant to give her advice on everything.  There's also her mother, Judith (Mimi Kuzyk), who may be there but won't always be willing to help out.  The manipulative matron believes that her daughter belongs with Rick, and she's ready to pull out every trick she knows to get them back together.

From rebuilding her career to patching up her relationships, Sophie's problems might be getting to her too quickly.  However, she never allows them to overwhelm her.  She maintains her positive outlook in proving to the world that she can stand strong and tread through life, hopefully with barely a scratch.

Created by Richard Blaimert and executive produced by Jocelyn Deschnes, Sophie is part of ABC Family's first-ever one-hour comedy block, which airs Mondays at 9:00 10:00 PM.
