When It Comes to The New Stage, Nigel is Listening

Maybe that little petition did some good folks, because according to his latest tweet So You Think You Can Dance executive producer and head judge Nigel Lythgoe is listening when it comes to complaints about the new, gigantic, dwarfing, neon hell that is the new stage. However, he's not listening to your complaints about who gets kicked off tonight if you didn't vote.

Read all about it in 140 characters or less from Nigel himself:

novotersnewset.JPGWhile I understand Nigel's feelings about non-voters complaining, I wonder if he's paused to think there might be a connection between the stage and people not picking up the phone to vote. With all the neon, quick cut camera work, and unnecessary 10-story-tall digitized backgrounds, it's hard for me to feel a strong enough connection to the dancers to be moved to vote.

So, hopefully Nigel is more than hearing when it comes to the new set, hopefully he's doing something about it. Hopefully if he does, it will remedy the other major issues of this season. (The seeming lack of personality and passion of the dances and smaller voter turn out than usual.) In a season that's turning out to be full of let downs, the newfangled stage is the biggest one and perhaps the root of all others. Please, let's bring back the old stage and hopefully with it, some of the magic of season's past.

If you haven't signed or commented on the original anti-stage petition, please do so now.
