So You Think You Can Dance

Can someone explain what is going on with Kherington Payne in the last few weeks? I’ll admit to being a bit skeptical when she made the Top 20 back in the Vegas rounds but she immediately won me over with high energy, entertaining routines with partner Twitch Boss. Last week, it looked like she literally gave up in the middle of a tango routine with him and this week, the light in her eyes were gone again as she performed two routines with new partner, Mark Kanemura. Her smile at the end of her routine seemed forced and it’s difficult to figure out what’s going on in her head right now. Unfortunately for Kherington, it doesn’t really matter what’s going on with her because audiences expect a killer performance every week and she has stopped delivering.

Hmm, how coincidental that Katee and , the two best technical dancers, ended up together for last night’s Top 10 performance. Also coincidental was Twitch and Comfort a) being paired up and b) landing a hip hop routine. I have to wonder sometimes how much the pairings and genre selections are random and how much are decided by production. Last night, I had a dream where every card in Twitch and Comfort’s bag said hip hop.

I really love when we get into the Top 10 on So You Think You Can Dance. Every dancer must perform a solo each week and it really reminds you how impressive it is when Courtney Galiano can turn out a solid hip hop performance or Gev Manoukian can hold his own in a contemporary routine. Tonight, I won’t be surprised in the least when Comfort heads back out again but which guy will head home is really up the air. When it comes to the guys, it looks like Gev or Mark are going home since Will, Josh, and Twitch are pretty much guaranteed to stay.
