So You Think You Can Dance: Nigel Lythgoe Talks New Reality Show and Fat Dancers
Nigel Lythgoe announced earlier this year that he would be leaving his position as executive producer of American Idol but keeps his hands full with Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance. This week, he told TVGuide.com that he’s developing yet another reality show, tentatively titled Dance Stars of the World. The show is being described as a dance Olympics and Lythgoe says that it would "bring dancers from all different countries in teams that include soloists, pas de deux and groups to represent their country." He plans to search the globe for the world’s best dancers and will also bring on judges from each country, who won’t be allowed to vote for their own.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

When Lythgoe stopped by the TV Guide office to discuss his new dance show, he also weighed in on the controversial remarks made this season about Lacey Schwimmer, of Dancing With The Stars, being too heavy. "There's nothing wrong with being overweight if that is your fighting weight ... the weight you're at your best at,” he said. Lythgoe also spoke specifically to any critics of Lacey and her weight saying, "Lay off her because she's a brilliant dancer."

While Lythgoe may have a soft spot in his heart for Lacey, he has no patience for overweight dancers who audition for his hit summertime reality series, So You Think You Can Dance. "I get a lot of fat dancers that come in to audition and I want to say to them, 'Darling, you're fat! Not just overweight, but fat. Go on and do something about it’.” He also said that another problem he has with overweight dancers is that "when the music stops, your body should stop, not wobble on for 10-15 seconds."
