There are only eight dancers left on
So You Think You Can Dance, but only four can make it to the finale. The votes from last night's performance show have all been cast. Now it's only a matter of time before we find out which six dancers will make to next week.
Who will be cut tonight? Will Comfort make one more week? Will perennial favorite Katee be in danger?
Whatever happens, I'll be sure to report it here in my live thoughts.
Welcome to
So You Think You Can Dance!
The hour opens with a hip hop routine that I absolutely love. I especially love the punk rock-meets-superhero wardrobe and makeup.
Cat Deeley, wearing a Grecian-inspired little one-shoulder frock that I immediately covet. She welcomes our.....joodges! Nigel makes a plug for the upcoming Presidential election in November and beseeches everyone to go out there and vote.
After this little plug, we get down to business. Cat first calls
Katee Shean on to the stage to receive her fate. To nobody's surprise, Katee is safe.
Next on stage:
William Wingfield. Oh my gosh, Will is in the bottom two guys! Did people think he was a shoo-in and not vote for him? Oy.
Comfort Fedoke takes the stage. Cat says somberly that she is in danger tonight of being eliminated. She is one of the bottom two girls.
Comfort's partner from last night,
Mark Kanemura, is safe. He looks truly astonished at this news, screaming, "What?"
Tomboy ballroom dancer
Chelsie Hightower finds out that she is safe. Yay!
Twitch Boss provides the second shocker of the night. He finds out that he is the other guy in danger of going home. Man, Will and Twitch, two of the favorites this season are in the bottom?? This can't end well.
Obviously, that means that
Joshua Allen is safe.
Courtney Galiano is the only other dancer who is left backstage, and she is the other girl in the bottom two.
Now, two dancers from the Los Angeles Ballet perform a Ballanchine pas de deux from
The Man I Love. Oh yay! I love ballet. I know that maybe it's not as exciting or cool as hip hop or some other "cool" style like that, but I'm definitely a classical ballet kind of girl. I just love watching the dancers bodies move so gracefully. They are so strong and they perform these amazingly difficult movements but make them look completely effortless.
Even though the votes have already been cast, the bottom four dances their solos. It can't change whether they get eliminated or not, but it's one last opportunity to show America their talents.
Comfort dances first. Her solo isn't as good as the one she danced yesterday, but I really appreciate that she has been working on her choreo.
Will dances next, and shows some technical prowess, but I don't find the solo very interesting, honestly.
Courtney takes the stage and dances to "Passion." She is wearing the cutest little baby-doll dress. I like Courtney's solos. A lot of times, when
So You Think You Can Dance contestants choreograph their own pieces, they tend to be really boring. But Courtney's are always enjoyable to watch.
The final solo of the evening is Twitch's, who is also extremely entertaining. He does these leg swing things that make him look like a marionette. He kisses Cat Deeley on the cheek on his way off stage.
Before we find out the results of the vote, LL Cool J performs his latest single.
Finally, in the waning moments of the hour, it is time to find out the results. For the girls, the girl who received the fewest votes is Comfort - her second time being eliminated. Courtney gets to stick around for at least another week. Now for the boys. It's Will versus Twitch. Which will it be? The guy leaving us tonight is .... Will. Gasp! I'm not too worried about Will, though, because I know he'll be a really successful dancer anyway. But I'm glad Twitch is staying around. I wonder if this means that Debbie Allen will be next week's guest judge? I love her, and not just for her name.
