From Twitter to Facebook, and now,
from Nigel Lythgoe, and perhaps everybody else reporting it: Mia Michaels really is leaving
So You Think You Can Dance.
"We are thrilled to have given a talent such a Mia Michaels a platform to create Emmy Award-winning choreography," he said in a statement. "During the auditions this season, she has helped chose the best, most diverse top 20 we have ever had. She knows that she is always welcome to return later this season or next. She's chosen to move on to new challenges, and we will continue to support her and wish her all the best."
But the official reasons for Mia's departure are still unclear. The only possible clue we have is Mia's Facebook status, saying she's leaving the American version of the show. The last we heard, she just wrapped up choreographing for the Canadian version of
SYTYCD, and a part of me thinks she might be doing the British version
SYTYCD, which is set to launch next year (if I remember correctly) both with Nigel and host Cat Deeley in tow.
Nonetheless, it is a confirmation, and here's hoping that she does return for a future engagement, even if it's limited. And, still, thanks for all those dances, Mia.
