Bianca Revels and Victor Smalley
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: "Maybe God Is Tryin' To Tell" from the Colour Purple

Tyce's routine tonight is inspired by southern churches and being filled with the spirit. Apparently there's a lot more lifts in Southern Church than here up North. The characters are well crafted, but not as well performed... though I give credit to Bianca for going for it. There's something emotionless about Victor's dancing which turns me off. It is technically competent, but leaves me feeling nothing more. I'm not moved by Victor in anyway. Bianca on the other hand, was definitely filled with the spirit, but she wasn't overflowing with it. I wanted more from both dancers, but especially Victor. Bianca at least shows oodles of talent, Victor seems overly smug in his.

Judges Say:

Adam decides to take the chance to floss his major dance knowledge. He says they danced it well, but that this routine wasn't about dancing well... he wanted to see them loose it. Mary says it was good. But just good. She felt the two were just doing choreography. Nigel also thought there was something missing from Victor and his character and that he looked uncomfortable dancing the routine. Nigel was disappointed with the routine, as was I. It was just okay.

Mollee Gray and Nathan Trasoras
Style: Bollywood
Choreographer: Nakul Dev Mahajan
Song:

Tonight's Bollywood routine is going to be more elegant, and Mollee is of course, calling it Mollywood.

Holy circle spins and hopping pirouettes! That was quite the beginning to the routine. While I'm not in love with the gigantic looming Taj  Mahal behind Mollee and Nathan, I am in love with what these two are bringing to the performance. Their moves are accented perfectly with the music and Mollee danced with more grace, elegance, and maturity than we've seen before. It's not the best Bollywood routine we've seen on So You Think You Can Dance, but it was one of the best and definitely the fastest. Bravo Nathan and Mollee!

Judges Say:

Adam says he's amazed by the maturity that Mollee danced with. He also loves the screaming girls for Nathan. Which apparently includes Mary Murphy. She also adored the beginning of the routine and at the end of the routine. It was a three scream Mary Murphy routine. Nigel also thought the routine was fabulous and was impressed with how the youngest couple is maturing. He compliments them on their finger placement, and it's true, the details of this routine was amazing.

Channing Cooke and Phillip Attmore:
Style: Samba
Choreographer: Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin
Song: "Maracatu Funk" by The Samba Squad

This samba could be a disaster or completely prove these two's potential.

Yikes, looks like it's going to be the former. Hello awkward samba...maybe they just need a little time to get started? This samba seriously lacks the light, snappy, sexiness it needs. Just as in last week Phillip and Channing are really going for it, but also just as last week, you can tell they are struggling. There is no fluidity between their moves, especially their lifts which were labored. And Channing looked heavy on her feet, but she got down her hip action. If this doesn't land the pair in the bottom two, someone's dance has got to go pretty horribly wrong.

Judges Say:

Adam said he could see Channing and Phillip struggling. What he loved was the partnership that is brewing between the pair. Mary says she appreciated how hard they were working, but that their samba lacked the party. She thought that Phillip let Channing down and without Phillip, Channing would have nailed the samba. Nigel thought the chemistry didn't work between Phillip and Channing and that Channing looked nervous before each of the lifts, which doesn't bode well for the partnership. He said Channing looked like a sack of potatoes on one of the lifts, but that he did think that Channing found her color. (umm...thanks Nigel?)

Karen Hauer and Kevin Hunte
Style: Hip Hop
Choreographer: Tabitha and Napoleon
Song: "Ice Cream Paint Job" by Dorrough

Kevin says the worst thing about working with Karen is she is so beautiful and fantastic on stage that he disappears. Hopefully, hip hop will help Kevin shine.

Screaming side note to the producers and choreographers of So You Think You Can Dance: Enough with the props!

Alright, to the dancing. For someone who looked awkward in practice, Karen is dancing with abandon. As a Latin Ballroom dancer she has great musicality. Kevin's movements seem small to Karen's and no surprise here, he's not selling the sexy the way she is. Kevin looks trepidatious, while Karen exudes confidence. If Kevin wasn't a hip hop dancer, I would be impressed, but in his own genre it's a bit lacking. The pair worked at the end was well synchronized and Kevin came out of his shell a bit, but I want more. He gave me great character and technique, but left me wanting.

Judges Say:

Adam literally falls out of his seat about Karen. And you can hardly blame him. Adam thinks that Karen came out with more confidence than Kevin, but that he was great. Mary thought the routine was hot. And that Karen is still on the hot tamale train in first class. Mary says she loved it a lot. And that this week Kevin is also on the Hot Tamale train. Nigel says he expected great from Kevin and got very good. Nigel then calls Karen an invertebrate, as a compliment, saying she moves things he didn't know could move. (Cue reel of Karen's bootie.) Everyone agrees, even in a dance that should have been all about Kevin, it's still all about Karen.

Kathryn McCormick and Legacy Perez
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Stacey Tookey
Song: "2 Steps Away" by Patti LaBelle

Hooray for Stacey Tookey being back. Seriously, please let this be a more than one time thing this season.

I am loving Kathryn's softness in this routine, and her lines and jumps, are not hurting either. Legacy is really committed to the character and the movement, in a way that surprises me. Definitely getting chills throughout the routine. The move where Legacy attaches to Kathryn's waist? Amazing. Sure it's kind of a rip off of the Addiction routine, but I still loved it. I was so wrong about this couple, I expected to hate them, and I love them. Especially Kathryn, great quality of movement and on stage, she is a magnet. (Plus, she hasn't cried yet on camera.) If Legacy can pull off other genres as well as he did contemporary? I'll be eating crow all season and maybe even with a smile.

Judges Say:

Adam is supremely proud of Legacy and felt this routine was a big step for him. (I do too). "You were dancing. Dancing!" Just like me, Adam can't wait to see what these two do next week. Mary was also impressed, saying the routine made the hair stand up on her arms. She thinks Legacy is the fastest grower in the history of So You Think You Can Dance. Nigel thought it was a special routine and that Kathryn is proving everyone wrong who said she'd be going home soon because she'd flown under the radar. And that if they keep dancing the way they did, they'll be around for a long time. And I'm inclined to agree.
