Caitlin and Jason: Lyrical JazzMandy Moore is giving
them a chance to show off what they know. There are no aliens, no
Bollywood bits, just lots and lots of jazz stuff. Jason has done away
with the open shirt and decided to remove the whole damn thing for his
final dance with Caitlin. By my count, this gives him a 67 percent
shirtless rating, which has to be a record for this show. It's
lyrical and jazzy and, as Mandy Moore said, it's a kitchen sink
routine, which means it has a whole lot of stuff, but no real story or
connection. Tyce greatly appreciates Jason's piece of work.
Jeanine and Phillip: JiveRussian
folk dance and the jive? Phillip must have really pissed off the
Sorting Hat this week. Phillip plays a sailor who returns from duty
and his girlfriend is being a tease, which is actually a very mean
thing. Jeanine is OK, but once again, Phillip is not a very good
dancer. He's an amazing popper and locker, but he can't dance another
style to save his life. Nigel calls it the best Phillip has done
outside of his own style, which is a lot like calling it the least
smelly turd. Nigel and Mary make a pact that, if they're in the bottom
three, there's no way they would send Jeanine home, so she must be
feeling pretty good about herself. Tyce compliments the package.
Taken out of context, everything Tyce says is dirty.
Randi and Evan: SambaThere's
a lot of gyrating, so it's yet another routine about Randi's booty.
Somehow they pull off the sexy, steamy, jungle-like samba. Well,
that's what I thought, but Nigel has strong reservations about how hot
it was. I'm mostly won over because there's a moment where Evan stares
at Randi's shaking butt, and I never knew choreography could include
callbacks. It was perfectly fine, but the judges seem to have higher
standards for these two when they're out of their element than they do
for Phillip.
Janette and Brandon: JazzThey get
Wade Robson to choreograph, so clearly the deck is heavily stacked in
their favor this week. It's about two thieves, and Brandon is in love
with Wade. It's fun and quirky and, as expected, the choreography is
so insanely good that you would have to be actively bad to make it look
anything less than awesome. I know these two are great dancers, but
having Wade choreograph anything at this point is unfair, because it
gives whatever couple gets them a huge advantage. It's good, but
honestly, I think their first routine was better.
Well, that
does it for another performance, so now it's left to America. Brandon,
Janette, Melissa, Ada and Jeanine are all guaranteed to be around next
week, but I'd say any of the other five might go.
