Ashleigh and Legacy - Hip Hop
Choreographer: Dave Scott
Song: "Slow Down" by Bobby Valentino

The costumes are worrisome, it's apparently hip hop vampirism. (Or as we will later tell our children of this routine, "and that was when the vampire craze jumped the shark.") Still, this routine has the potential for greatness, Ashleigh has proved herself adept at character driven hip hop and Legacy is somewhat in his style. Of course, the flames of hell are literally whipping up on the gigantic screen which is pretty distracting. Is it just me or does this choreography seem too simple for Legacy and Ashleigh? Something about it, isn't sitting right and none of it is grabbing me by the gut.
The only highlight is the sweet and sassy fondness Ashleigh and Legacy show for each other.

Judges Say:

It wasn't enough, the judges never got engaged, the costumes were ridiculous and distracting. Basically it was the disaster we all saw

Nathan and Kathryn - Rumba
Choreographer: Tony and Melanie
Song: "Walk On By" by Aretha Franklin

Nathan looks like a different man dancing with Kathryn. Kathryn looks like the incredible, growing dancer and star she's becoming. This rumba certainly has the sexy that's often missing and these two look in lust doing it. Though, Nathan is overselling it a bit with the pursed lips. Luckily Kathryn is dancing with abandon and lovely lines that distracts from it. Yet again, Kathryn was the star and Nathan was passable.

Judges Say:

There wasn't enough rumba to the rumba and that the passion was lacking.

Legacy's Solo
"No Air" by Jordin Spark

I think I speak for most of you when I say "Hooray for a Legacy solo!" We've seen a lot of his b-boys moves utilized, but 30 seconds of his skeltonless, gravity-free movement is a head scratching delight and show of incredible strength. The first solo to receive a standing ovation and for good reason.

Ellenore and Jakob - Contemporary
Choreographer: Sonya Tayeh
Song: "Tore My Heart"

Finally Jakob Karr and contemporary you have been married. And man, was it worth the wait. Jakob is a menacing master on the dance floor, filled with more movement and musicality in his thighs than most dancers are in their entire body. And Ellenore is giving it her all in a dance vocabulary fitted perfectly for her style. The lines of these two's legs are as complimentary as they are insane. Also have we mentioned, Jakob Karr is beyond brilliant. This is dancing for your life. This is dancing with abandon. This is what I've been waiting for all season. That was, without a doubt, the best routine of the season no. It was beyond anything we've seen -- and while it's unconventional this threesome marriage is one made in dance heaven. I have goosebumps on my arms and legs.

Judges Say:

Nigel screams, when we say we're dissappointed with other dancers, it's because they're up against brilliance like that. Nigel says it was a different class and the routine of the season. Mary says Jakob and Ellenore are the new dream team and we agree. And then they get a choreographed standing ovation from the judges. For real.

Ashleigh's Solo

"Batucada Por Favor"

This is our first time seeing Ashleigh solo and she kills it. This isn't just about sex appeal or strength, this is about going out, showing off technique and the cornerstones of Latin ballroom choreography, in fast forward. It seems like she danced a step too fast for her choreography, because she stood there as the final second counted down. But it was still the strongest ballroom solo of the season.

Mollee and Russell - Jive
Choreographer: Pasha and Anya
Song: "Land of 1000 Dances"

This could be a disaster or ridiculously enjoyable, the first view of Russell makes me think it's be the latter. Wow, Russell is killing it with the quick snap back retraction of the jive and Mollee's maturity is continuing in a routine that still shows off his youthful spirit and fun. Fun, fast, and flirty. It may not have been in their style, but both Mollee and Russell are consummate performers. Definitely the best jive we've seen all season and considering last season's jives, maybe last season too.

Judges Say: That was the only thing that could have followed up Ellenore and Jakob's routine. Mary screams it was Hot Tamale worthy before screaming so more. It's agreed 100% that was a fun playful routine which highlights an exciting partnership.

Jakob's Solo
"Always Midnight"

I may actually be quaking with excitement for a Jakob Karr solo, premptive chills are happening.  And for good reason. Jakob gets right to showing incredible control and technique in a jaw dropping series of turns, leaps, and show of flexibility. It wasn't the best solo ever and I know he can do better (he did in that contemporary routine with Sonya) but it was beautiful.

Jakob & Ellenore Contemporary

Ashleigh and Legacy's Hip Hop,
