Last
to join the Disco Kitten on stage are Caitlin & Jason, Jeanine
& Phillip. There's no way that people voted for the Alien
Impregnation dance over Chbeeb right? Now THAT would be truly shocking.
Caitlin & Jason - SAFE
Jeanine & Phillip - Bottom 3, Dancing for their Lives
Man, I am OFF tonight.
That
must be making Karla & Vitolio very nervous, seeing that they've
been in the Bottom 3 more than anyone else in the competition. And the
judges seem to adore K2, plus Phillip will likely kill his solo and
Jeanine is on the up and up. Not to mention that little thing called
the So You Think You Can Dance tour. That thing that the judges want
people to spend money on during an economic crisis? Yeah, you need fan
favorites for that to work, so Chbeeb Heads, take a deep breath, your
man should be fine.
Patricia Hechey and Desmond Richardson
Caprice in E Minor, Op. No 3
Doing
a contemporary ballet, pas de deux, in matching outfits? How much do
you want to bet that Brandon is lusting over that unitard?
No
more joking, these guys are phenomenal. I feel like I learn more about
dance and the human body watching them move, I mean, the lines, the
flexibility, the dynamic partnership. And that last move with Patricia
on pointe? Took my breath away.
It's solo time
Karla
Blackbird by Dione Farris
Love
Karla's quirky bird like movements, I think she's an absolutely
beautiful dancer, but there wasn't much to that routine. She could be
in trouble.
Vitolio
Here Comes Goodbye by Rascal Flatts
If
no dancer ever does that slow fist pump, drag move ever again, I would
be a happy happy girl. Not enough content in that dance Vitolio, but
the open chested shirt might help.
Kayla
Stupid by Sarah McLauchlan
Let's
see if Kayla's solo is better than her last, girl gives me chills on
stage. I can't explain why, but she does every time. Have all these
solos been a little lacking? Still, there's no way that the judges are
sending home their chosen one right? Even Cat calls out the judges
fondness for Kayla.
Kupono
Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel K.
I
love that Kupono is dancing to a Hawaiian ukulele version of Somewhere
Over the Rainbow, his solo was a little slow, but had lots of emotion
to it. A lot of emotion but again, not much meat. Pono could definitely
be in trouble for that one.
Also, is it just me, but I keep
expecting him to step on stage and bring what Mark K. brought to his
solos. I think I need to stop holding him to that high expectation. It
just makes me feel disappointed. Also, does it seem to you like Kupono
already thinks he's going home? Admitting that it "wouldn't be that
bad" seems defeatist. That paired with his what me worry solo makes me
wonder if he's just ready to go.
Gotta admit, I'm excited to see a Chbeeb solo, let's see what this guy can do when left to his own devices.
Jeanine
Moonlight Sonata
Jeanine
is definitely dancing for her life, unlike everyone else who seemed to
be phoning it in. As she said, she seemed to be taking this solo as an
opportunity to show America what she can do. And what did she show us?
Girl can fricking dance! Chills and goosebumps over here!
Phillip
You'll Find Away by Santigold
Phillip
doing what Phillip does best is a joy to watch -- he finally looks like
he's having a lot of fun. Oh and that he is completely lacking a
skeleton. I'm still not sure just being a good popper is enough to make
it much further in the competition. Still, I'm with Cat, I'm glad I got
to see him perform a solo and show his stuff.
It's time for the judges to deliberate, not an easy choice, but my guess is Karla and Kupono.
And,
as the judges deliberate, hopefully we will hear and see Kelly Clarkson
actually sing. (And not dance.) Yay! Right away you can tell, no lip
syncing. Thank you Kelly! Man, did American Idol get it right on Kelly
Clarkson or what? She's adorable, has a huge set of pipes, and has been
lucky to have some super catchy songs to sing. Hands down, no question,
best musical guest of the year. And good luck topping it future Season
5 musical guests.
Alright, it's decision time and the judges are unanimous in their decision. (Karla, that does not bode well for you.)
Ladies first, as it should be:
Jeanine - SAFE, Nigel's comments: strongest solo of the evening, Nigel calls it brilliant.
Karla - ELIMINATED Nigel's
comments: without question a very very good dancer, but haven't capture
the start quality we thought you had at the beginning.
Kayla - SAFE
Nigel's comments: one of the judges and choreographers favorites, think
you're a brilliant dancer and sweet spirit, however your solo was
static. Not really dancing from the heart. (Which I'm sure feels like a
stab in the heart.)
Alright, so that was the most obvious
thing ever. No way they were sending Kayla home, and Jeanine actually
danced for her life. Still, I loved watching Karla dance and I'm sorry
to see her go. And man, do their elimination montages make anyone else
teary? Especially when they cry themselves. Oh Karla, you have me
feeling weepy.
It's time for the Gents.
Again, the judges are unanimous in their decision this evening.
Philip
- SAFE - Nigel comments: over worked, but it's phenomenal what you
do. However we all feel you have an awful lot of hard work to do to
manage the other genres of dance. (my comments: but obviously, so we
sell tickets we're keeping you until the Top 10.)
Vitolio -
ELIMINATED - Nigel comments: you always present yourself brilliantly.
You look like you're going to be a major star, but all you offer is
your presence.
Kupono - SAFE - Nigel comments: thank goodness
this isn't called So You Think You Can Choreograph. (ahaha -- Nigel,
that was a good one, and so so true.)
Wow, so it was a full on couple who went home, and Asuka is crying in the audience.
So,
our latest dancers to be eliminated are Karla & Vitolio. I thought
Pono's solo would have done him in, but tonight was all about me being
wrong.
It does have me wondering, and I'd love to hear your answers. Was Kupono saved by the potential of his partnership or himself?
I'll be interviewing Karla & Vitolio tomorrow, so please send me your questions for the pair tonight!
p.s. One last note, just in from the Twitter-Verse, Karla's former partner Jonathan just tweeted this:
"I'm on my way to get you Karla!!! I love u!!!"
Sounds like Karla is going to have some salsa eye candy comforting her tonight! Love how genuine the relationships and friendships formed on this show seem.
