So You Think You Can Dance choreographer and former contestant Travis Wall has been keeping busy lately. In addition to his visits to SYTYCD season 9 (which will include choreographing one of the finale dances), Wall now has his own reality show, All the Right Moves, on Oxygen. He recently spoke to BuddyTV about dance on TV and his own projects.

How does working on a show like So You Think You Can Dance
, compared to your own show?Travis Wall:
It's completely different. So You Think You Can Dance
, not only is it a competition show, but All the Right Moves
-- it's not a competition show. It's my life. And I just have to be myself and it's just all about my personal life. With So You Think
, it was always about my work. Now you get to know what my life is like. So it's a completely different experience.BuddyTV:
Do you have a preference between the kind of shows? Does one seem more interesting to you than the other?Travis Wall:
Now that I've kind of been through the pressure of having my own TV show... It's fun to get to do whatever you want to do, but, you know sometimes when I go to **So You Think, it's not as much pressure, 'cause it's just about my work, not about my entire life. Do you know what I mean?
No matter what filming -- TV show or movie -- I always put so much pressure on myself. So it all kind of feels the same at the end of the day. I just want to do the best job I could possibly do, so I put pressure on myself.BuddyTV:
Do you see yourself more as a dancer or more as a choreographer these days?
Choreographer all the way, baby! I am getting a little bit more of a dancing bug back inside me. I think my best friends are the ones that are really responsible for that -- just picking my confidence up a bit about my dancing and saying how much they miss me dancing. They sparked a couple of fires in my body.
So I'm willing to train again, I'm willing to get back in ballet classes. Because I am turning 25 this year, the next couple years are really good to me, because I'm not getting any younger than I am today.BuddyTV:
What do you think about the greater prominence of dancing and dance shows on television these days?Travis Wall:
I absolutely love it. I think it's unbelievable. The fact that everybody wants a little piece of dance is amazing, because dance is my life, so I'm always excited about what I'm doing, you know what I mean? I think it's awesome that you can flip through the channel and almost every network has some variety of dance show. I think that's fantastic. If you asked yourself 10 years ago, you would think it was crazy. "Oh, every network's going to have a dance show!" You'd be like, "No way." It's awesome! And I love it! And I say, keep it going!BuddyTV:
Do you think that having so many TV shows with dancing helps to increase professional opportunities for dancers?Travis Wall:
Absolutely. Because there's more dancing on TV, that means there's more dancing to be had. For awhile there were private dance shops. You know, how much were people getting paid. The same 8 dancers keep getting hired. Now all these dance jobs and all these dance opportunities and everything's becoming more spectacular, it opens up so many more jobs for dancers. The door is open for the newcomers in town. BuddyTV:
Other than All the Right Moves
and So You Think You Can Dance
, do you have any other projects coming up soon?Travis Wall:
I actually moved back to NYC for the fall and winter. In 14 days -- it's crazy. To work on a show called Bare
. It's about these two Catholic boys falling in love in Catholic school and the societal problems that go along with that. I'm so excited to go back to New York. It's an off-Broadway show -- it's going to be my first show like that, so I'm excited to definitely try something different. I'm trying to get back to my roots, because I started on Broadway.Click here for a chance to win tickets to the So You Think You Can Dance live tour!
