Smallville returns on January 15 to conclude the amazing season 8. The last time we saw Smallville, Doomsday took Chloe to the Dark Fortress, Lana made her return, and Lex was watching a video tape while hooked up to a ton of wires.

The CW released a new preview of Smallville’s return, and it includes plenty to get excited about, from the arrival of the Legion of Super Heroes from the 31st century to more with Lex Luthor. Continue reading for more and to watch a sneak peek of new episodes.

One of the cooler parts of the second half of the season will be the arrival of the Legion of Super Heroes: Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy. They come back from the 31st century to help Clark achieve his destiny, which we learn involves Lana Lang. She’s important for some reason, and there will be a Clark-Lana lip lock.

Another super hero, the Martian Manhunter, will also return and it looks like he’s in some life or death trouble.

Chloe is still at the Dark Fortress, but in some of the scenes, she seems to fight back and will not be a quiet captive for Doomsday.

Finally, in the big reveal from this preview, we see that Tess Mercer is the one in contact with Lex, but that may not last for long. From the brief snippets of dialogue we get, it seems he saved her life and that she loved him, but that she’s reconsidering that devotion. Perhaps Tess isn’t as bad as we thought.



The excitement of Smallville begins again on January 15 when season 8 resumes.
