The 19th installment of the season continues to tap into the Veritas mythology and Lex's quest to learn more about whatever he can discover in Zurich. Lex (
Michael Rosenbaum) is attacked by a cloaked stranger who carves Kryptonian symbols into his chest, which seems to be a message intended for Clark (
Tom Welling).
Meanwhile, Jimmy takes an interest in the symbols in the Kawatche caves, and Clark thinks again about their symbolism. Later, Clark and Chloe (
Allison Mack) team up to conduct an investigation, and along the way, they discover that one member of the Veritas clan has survived and is hiding in a church. Clark and Lex race to be the first to find this mysterious Veritas member, who holds the key to Clark's survival.
“Quest” is written by Holly Harold and directed by Ken Biller, who has not directed an episode of
Smallville since 2006.
Smallville also stars
