Smallville returns Thursday at 8pm with its first new episode of the year, “Legion.” The show left off with Doomsday taking Chloe up to the Dark Fortress while Clark was recuperating from getting his butt kicked at Chloe’s wedding.

The CW released three clips from the upcoming episode that provide a lot of illumination on who the Legion is and what happened to Chloe. Continue reading for more details and to watch these videos.

The first two clips show the Legion coming to save Kal-El from The Persuader. It looks like the Legion won’t be sticking around for long, but while they’re here, they’ll provide some fairly witty dialogue about Clark’s future, particularly when it comes to his wardrobe.





But it’s this last clip that provides all the excitement. In it, we learn that Chloe no longer exists and that she’s been completely taken over by Brainiac. On the other hand, Davis is back (without a shirt no less-watch out for frostbite) and he is troubled by what’s happening, begging Chloe to fight.




I suspect Brainiac will be defeated sooner rather than later, but having Chloe play the Big Bad would be a fun little storyline to play out, especially with Davis/Doomsday as her minion. The bigger question is: how will Lex and Tess factor into this battle?
