The big day is almost here for
Smallville residents, the marriage of Lana to Lex. With the events of recent episodes, however, by show of hands, who expects the wedding to go off? If there are hands raised, mine is not among them. Not only do I believe the wedding will be the scene of a major disruption that will cement the Clark / Lex rivalry for all time, I see this event as a turning point for
Smallville proper. With Michael Rosenbaum making a predicted exit from
Smallville, what a perfect time to kick off a major arc that will end in Lex going off to be the reclusive criminal genius we all know he has the potential to be?

Indications are still on the fence over what exactly does happen, and post "Promise" info may seem to hint at a split, but truth be known there is nothing concrete to say that Lex and Lana don't tie the knot. Thankfully, we have the input of Craig Byrne from
Kryptonsite.com who was fortunate enough to make a visit to the set of Smallville for the shooting of the wedding scene. What kind of goodies did Craig bring back with him? Here are a few bullets:
- Surprisingly absent from most of the wedding festivities? Tom Welling as Clark. Although, judging from the look on Lionel's face in one take, and again with some of the promotional photos it wouldn't be a surprise if he comes in to crash the party.
- Lionel stands behind Lex, which may imply he is the best man.
- Martha sits in the front pew, surely a guest of Lionel's.
- Sarah-Jane Redmond returns as Aunt Nell for her first Smallville appearance since Season Two. She sits in the front pew next to Martha.
- As they are saying their vows, Lana looks a bit uneasy. Could she have finally learned Clark's secret? Will she go through with the wedding?
- There IS a sequence where Lex and Lana leave the church and are off to their honeymoon, which could mean the wedding is on... unless it's a dream sequence, as rumor has it there will be at least one dream sequence in the episode. As they were filming the exit from the church, Clark was, again, nowhere to be seen.
How surreal would it be if they did go through with the wedding? I'm still not dismissing that deep hunch I have that the wedding is going to be called off at the last minute, but you never know! Frankly, if I had to handle anymore Lex and Lana drawn out story lines, I think I'd vomit. For more great information and screencaps visit www.kryptonsite.com
