Smallville has always been about Clana-They are what made the show for the past 7 seasons...Now that theres...
As we've come to expect with
Smallville, the latest season finale left us wondering what would happen to many of our favorite characters. Clark (
Tom Welling) and Lex were buried within the Fortress of Solitude, Kara was trapped in the Phantom Zone, Lana left town and Chloe (
Allison Mack) got arrested. With all of those events left unresolved, how will season 8 start off?
According to
Kryptonsite.com, the first episode of the new season is entitled "Odyssey." The episode picks up several months after the events in the finale, with Lex missing and presumed dead. Clark is busy working on a boat near the Arctic with a researcher and scientist, but he's soon brought back to Smallville by some surprising rescuers. Green Arrow returns in this episode, and it also marks the first appearance of new villain Tess Mercer, played by Cassidy Freeman. Tess will be looking over Lex's assets while he's away, but her obsessive devotion to him will cause her to clash with Clark. Not only is she evil and seductive, but she also has super powers, which should make her a formidable foe.
Davis Bloome, aka Doomsday, is the other villain who will be causing destruction while Lex is away. Bloome, played by
Battlestar Galactica's Sam Witwer, is a Metropolis bartender with good looks, a sharp wit and a down to earth soulfulness. While Bloome appears friendly on the outside, he actually has a dark, mysterious past that's full of bloody destruction. As Davis begins to investigate his strange origins, he finds himself succumbing to his evil nature.
As the series moves into its eighth season, fans can also expect to see more of Metropolis and less of Smallville. According to
Kristin at E!Online, Clark will be working at the
Daily Planet, and the series will begin exploring the Lois and Clark dynamic more than it has in the past.
Though some major cast members are leaving the series, all of them are expected to make at least a few appearances. Kristin Kreuk is slated for six or seven episodes, Michael Rosenbaum will likely appear in 10 or more, and Laura Vandervoort may return for a few episodes.
Erica Durance, who plays the feisty Lois Lane, is signed on for 12-13 episodes, which is the amount she usually appears in per season. The producers also have the option to book her for more if they feel the show needs an extra dose of Lois Lane.
Smallville's eighth season premiere has not yet been scheduled by the CW, but the series is expected to return sometime in September.
Will the changes in season 8 make Smallville better or worse?
