We all know what Clark wants, and apparently Oliver wants the same thing. So what does Lois want? That is the question.
The trailer promises us a legendary moment of epic proportions and Clois fans are crossing fingers, knees and toes with all their might. Temporarily ignoring the legends though, this episode offers all our favorite Metopolis personalities, a chance to shine, and personally, I loved the shared greatness of this ensemble effort.
Last week laundry. This week, morning television. Yes, Lois and Clark are co-hosting 'Good Morning Metropolis' and their first assignment is (drum roll please): Online Dating! The closet couple must tape themselves on dates and then 'coffee talk' about them on the show? Priceless.
Up first: Clark. Courtesy one earpiece, Lois plays the devil on his shoulder, mocking his online dating profile...Until Katherine arrives. Neither a country mouse or a cougar, this beautiful blond just might be a reincarnation of Mother Theresa in six-inch heels. Lois is so jealous.
Oliver also has a blond on his arm this episode. Only she is not really a blond, and definitely not a Mother Theresa. Mia, aptly nicknamed Speedy, is both a street fighter and a streetwalker. She hits hard, drives fast, and loves wearing red. Oliver recognizes a side of himself in her fear and hate and offers to train her, hoping to save her from the streets. Unfortunately, her pimp, Rick, recognizes Oliver as an ideal target and Mia as the means to the end.
By the way, did I mention that Oliver spends an entire scene of this episode shirtless? Gratuitous shots of Justin Hartley's abs anyone? Not that any of us are complaining, but he also has the only obviously shirtless shot in the opening credits. Do you think the producers will ever tire of exploiting him?
Returning to the world of morning television and online dating, it is Lois' turn! She bought a killer dress and rented out the entire Ace of Clubs for her date with, Oliver? Guess who paid off her real date and took his place? And the first three do not count. Oliver justifies crashing Lois' date by declaring his love for her. Lois admits that she wants someone else and he correctly guesses Clark. But not before she turns off that eavesdropping earpiece, leaving Clark clueless.
Recurring question: who would you choose? Oliver or Clark?
Outside, Lois and Oliver are surprised by Mia who, admittedly unwillingly, brought Rick and his goons. During the fight that ensues Lois' earpiece is accidentally reactivated, allowing Clark to overhear sounds of the struggle. Just as Rick corners Lois and Oliver, Clark arrives. Shielding his friends from a shower of bullets, he destroys the gun. Though Clark and Oliver lock eyes for a split second, a shielded Lois remains completely unaware of Clark's presence.
On the Kandorian front: Tess holds a meeting of Luthor Corp shareholders where she announces a new partnership with RAO Incorporated and plans for building the world's first completely self-sustaining solar tower. A tower that looks distinctly familiar--remember Lois' dream of the future?
Zod ambushes the presentation, introducing himself as the new Chairman and CEO of RAO. Turns out the major wants Tess' help finding the Blur. In return, Miss Mercer wants an equal partnership with the major. Both are disappointed in their demands, for now.
After discovering that Tess may be building her own Area 51, Chloe spends the entire episode playing hacker poker with Tess' resident computer genius, Stuart. Instructions: see one anonymous proxy filter with reinforced protocol encryption and raise one rewritten ACL, then get angry and crack your knuckles for emphasis. Boy wonder loses the game, however, when he literally plays his own hand. Chloe uses the image for fingerprint analysis, accessing not only the identity of her nemesis, but all the information she needs for leverage recruiting Mr. Stuart Campbell.
This episode closes the same way it opened--with our legendary super couple. Following advice from Chloe, Clark finally decides what he wants. Interrupting a disgruntled Lois who rants that 'Good Morning Metropolis' dropped them as hosts, Clark silences her.
Oh, sorry. Did I fail to mention how? Only with a KISS!
Now we just have to wait another whole week to find out what happens after the kiss. I wonder if Clark will bring her home to meet daddy?
